Syrian president calls for enhanced Iran-Syria economic cooperation

Damascus, Sept 3, IRNA – President Bashar Assad on Wednesday called for promoting Tehran-Damascus economic cooperation in proportionate with historic bilateral ties.

In a meeting with co-chairman of Iran-Syria Committee for Developing Economic Ties, Rostam Qasemi, he said that the Syrian nation welcomes Iran's readiness to help rebuild the country.

"Syria appreciates Iran which has stood by Syria in the face of challenges targeting all regional states' interests," he said.

President al-Assad and Qasemi, Iran's ex-oil minister, reviewed avenues for boosting economic cooperation in all fields.

Qasemi thanked the Syrian nation for their sacrifice and resistance in the fight against terrorism.

He voiced Iran's preparedness for strengthening the country's resistance and transfer of necessary experience to rebuild Syria.
