The Saudi foreign minister made the remarks in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Riyadh Hossein Sadeqi.
Al-Faisal said that his country attaches special significance to expansion of relations with Iran and called for opening a new chapter in bilateral ties with Tehran.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed issues of mutual interest, as well as the latest developments in the region.
The Iranian ambassador, for his part, said that the Jeddah airport incident has injured the sentiments of the Iranian people.
Sadeqi urged the Saudi government to seriously and promptly deal will the case.
He also touched upon the Yemeni crisis and said that Iran believes the continuation of war and bloodshed in Yemen is not to the benefit of the region and the Islamic nations.
Sadeqi said that only foreign powers and ill-wishers will benefit from discords among Islamic countries.
He called for an immediate ceasefire in Yemen to facilitate dispatch of humanitarian aid to the oppressed nation of the country.

Tehran, April 16, IRNA – Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal have pledged that Riyadh will sentence to severest punishment at the earliest the two Saudi policemen who offended two Iranian teenage pilgrims at Jeddah airport.
