According to the Disabled Sports Federation, Director of the team Hadi Rezaei said that the British consulate in Ankara, Turkey, refused visa for the team, so that the team would not attend the sport event in the United Kingdom.
He added that 45 days ago the Iranian team members applied for the UK visa.
The UK consulate in Ankara said that processing the visa request takes 10 to 12 days, and 15 days later the international department of the federation followed up the visa applications with the UK consulate, but no answer was received yet.
The issue was reported to organizers of the sports tournament and world federation and their efforts have yet to bear fuit so far.
Rezaei said that every country hosting an athletics event considers itself obliged to issue visa for the participating teams.
He said that Iran protested to International Paralympics Committee in this concern.
Visa refusal to any individual accounts for violation of human rights and the International Humanitarian Law requires the governments to give visa for the applicants and provide reasons for the otherwise.
Consulates and visa sections of the member states of the United Nations are not allowed under the International Law to leave the visa requests unanswered.
