Iran, US, China discuss re-designing Arak reactor

Vienna, Sept 14, IRNA – Representatives of Iran, the United States and China held consultations on the sidelines of IAEA 59th General Conference in Vienna Monday to review the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action re-designing Arak research reactor.

Energy officials from Tehran, Washington and Beijing drafted documents on how to redesign Arak research reactor envisaged by JCPOA struck on July 14, 2015.
In a recent visit to China, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi, held talks with Chinese officials on redesigning Arak reactor and visited China's nuclear industries, including the country's heavy water reactor.
China and Russia have broad economic and political relations with Iran.
China has better standing about Iran during nuclear negotiations compared with other four permanent members of the Security Council.
