Rouhani says 'ready for talks', rejects 'pressures'

Tehran, Feb 13, IRNA - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says his country is prepared for negotiations based on dignity but warns that it won’t accept pressures.

“Of course if somebody wants to talk to us about a special topic, should they respect our country’s dignity, international laws and regulations, we are always there to discuss, argue and debate,” said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani addressing his cabinet on Wednesday.

“However, we are not ready to accept imposition, force, pressure or ignoring our national rights,' warned Rouhani.

The Iranian president stressed that the Iranian people will not surrender to the “enemy” despite its “economic, psychological and propaganda war.”

He also cautioned that if the nation surrenders to the US, “it means that we need to give up the country, dignity, independence and identity.” “There is no end to giving up to the enemy,” he added.

Rouhani highighted that “Iranians will undoubtedly stand up against enemies’ agrression, violation and imposition.”

The Iranian President noted that Iranians maintained the country’s territorial integrity during eight years of the war, started by Iraq in 1980.
